NELA announces new product developments Oakdale, MN — November 16, 2007 — In an effort to provide the printing industry with additional prepress options, NELA is now offering the Classic II Bender as well as the SMART Conveyor System as additional choices to meet client demands. 1. “SMART Conveyor”: The SMART Conveyor System is the next generation of automated plate conveying. This two-belt design (no rollers) uses no suction cups to turn plates but loads the plates with its innovative tilted platform. This platform rotates 90 degrees in the desired direction where it unloads the plates onto the conveyor leading to the stacker. The platform’s elevated design allows plates from other punchbenders to move underneath the platform freely. This eliminates potential damage to the plates and is faster than the traditional “pick & place” unit. In addition to fewer moving parts, the SMART Conveyor has a smaller footprint and plates are traveling on a 2-belt system for redundancy and reliability.
2. Classic II: This is another “next generation” design. The original Classic Bender which has been a successful NELA product offering for almost a decade, has been completely redesigned to meet the demand of the today’s market. NELA broadened this precision 3-point bender’s application range and it now can be used for single and double width plates as well as single or double bend profiles. The Classic II will remain a semi-automatic bender with manual infeed and automatic bend cycle operation.
