Belt-driven inspection systems

Belt-driven inspection systems are predominantly recommended for a fully automatic and non-destructive geometrical and defect inspection for extremely small parts, or for parts with an unfavorable height-width-relation which, therefore, can’t be inspected on a glass table. Belt systems are also suited for parts which have to be inspected for surface of thread defects, but also need geometry inspection. A complete check from all sides can be realized with a 180° turn of the parts.


Suited for parts made of different materials such as metal, plastics, rubber & other elastomeric compounds, silicone, sintered metal.

Inspection belt

The parts are transported fast and precise on stable belts underneath the measurement and surface inspection sensors.

Optical inspection

High-resolution image capture for a reliable inspection of surfaces and geometric elements, as well as threads.


Fully automated feeding and separation of parts, for example with ascending conveyors or bowl feeders.


Bunkers with different capacities are available for extended autonomous run times.

Turn over function

When parts have to be inspected from top and bottom they will be turned over very carefully.


Parts are classified and sorted as OK or NOK parts. Statistics include data for the entire system, as well as for individual sensors.


OK parts can be diverted automatically to a box changer or packaging system.

How do NELA belt-driven inspection systems work?

A feeder which is adapted to shape and material of the parts brings the parts onto a belt where they are separated and moved to the inspection belt. Here, the customized inspection and measurement sensors inspect the parts from top, bottom, and laterally. To find even the smallest defects it can be required to turn the parts over and inspect them again from the other side, which is realized on a second inspection belt. When the inspection is completed, the parts are sorted via chutes or belts. Depending on the requirements it is also possible to integrate additional components such as box changers or packaging systems.


Belt-driven inspection systems from NELA are available in the following versions:

LIVI.01: inspection system with belt, continuously guiding the parts along or underneath the sensor units - recommended for parts which don’t have to be turned over for analysis


TAVI.02 / TAVI.02-XL: inspection system with turn over station to inspect parts from top and bottom – an economical solution for parts which have to be turned for analysis
